  • Trip Grade:

Moderate - Suitable for travelers with an average level of fitness and mobility. However, some walking and hiking is required.

  • Trip Tips:

Explore the countryside of Siem Reap on your own quad bike, by far the best way to see the real village life. We will end the day watching the stunning sunset over the paddy fields where cattle and oxen graze lazily.

  • Best Travel Time:

There are two seasons in Cambodia, wet and dry. From early May to the end of October is the rainy season. It often rains heavily but for short periods of time, mostly later in the day or during the night, after which the sun returns. The rain cools the air and freshens up the lush green of the rice plantations. It is cooler in the dry season, which runs from early November to early February, when it starts heating up again, building to the hottest month of April. So the best time for rain lovers is between May and October and from November to early March for those who like it dry and cool.

Day 1: Bangkok - Chanthaburi
Upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi airport, we will meet our guide and driver and transfer to Chanthaburi.

Overnight in Chanthaburi.

Day 2: Chanthaburi - Pailin
After breakfast at the hotel we transfer to Pong Nam Ron and start cycling to the Cambodian border, a ride of about 27 km. After passing through the immigration point, we will have lunch at a local restaurant. We continue cycling around another 20 km to the town of Pailin, located in the foothills of the scenic Cardamom Mountains.

Pailin used to be a Khmer Rouge stronghold, which survived by trading gemstones until 1998, when The Khmer Rouge demobilized their forces into the government army and the town gradually recovered, becoming a more peaceful place.

Day 3: Pailin - Battambang
After breakfast at the hotel, we fill our water bottles and are briefed on the road conditions, water stops, etc. After we leave the town behind there are a few climbs and then some downhill stretches. Watch out for large potholes, and cows that might be crossing the road. A long rope, which you may not see, often tethers them – look carefully as you pass them.

We cycle along this Cardamom mountain range passing rice fields and local houses. Be prepared for lots of friendly hellos and waves from the local children everywhere you pass through. Recently, the road from Pailin to Battambang has been improved.

Day 04: Battambang - Siem Reap
We transfer by boat to Siem Reap, crossing the vast Tonle Sap lake (South East Asia’s largest freshwater lake). The lake is the main water reservoir when the Mekong is flooded; without the lake, Cambodia would be flooded every year. Upon arrival in Siem Reap you will be met by our friendly and experienced staff and transferred to your hotel for check-in. After checking in, you will have free time for leisure activities in Siem Reap.

Here, our guide will take you on a 45-minute tour, ending at the east gate for another ride around a big loop of the temple area through the North Gate of Angkor Thom. Here we will stop at Wat Paly Lie for a water blessing, after which, we bike onwards to the Bayon Temple and its 4 faces, joining some locals for lunch. After lunch we head back the hotel visiting the killing fields on the way. Dinner is at an Asian restaurant.
