This 5-day island hopping adventure to the Mergui Archipelago will take you on a journey to some of the most amazing spots of the region and is great value for money. Our island safari boat facilities are simple yet functional. These cruises are suitable for people who are adventurous, easy going and don’t mind sharing facilities and sleeping in open space with canvas dividers and under mosquito nets. There is plenty of kayaking, swimming and snorkeling in the most amazing waters. You will be among the very few privileged visitors to the pristine Mergui (Myeik) archipelago of 800 islands, which was only recently opened for tourists after decades of isolation.

 

Brief Itinerary

 

Day 1: Kawthaung – The 3 Islets (115 Island)

Day 2: The 3 Islets (115 Island) – Nyaung Wee – Bo Cho and Lampi Island

Day 3: Lampi Island – Tar Yar Island - Ko Phawt Island - Pilar Island

Day 4: Pilar Island – High Rock Island – Zar Det Nge Island – Salon Island      

Day 5: Salon Island - Kawthaung

Day 1: Kawthaung – The 3 Islets (115 Island)
Your guide will meet you at the airport/pier in Kawthaung and transfer you to your boat for check in. Along the way, you will see the bustling border town. If you are interested and if time permits, you may take part in a short sightseeing tour of the town (optional). You stroll through the lively market near the jetty, visit the famous Victoria Point, the most southern tip of Myanmar’s mainland, and have a photo stop at the King Bayint Naung statue. You visit the Pyi Daw Aye Pagoda with scenic views across the river to Ranong and finish the day with a short drive through the fishing villages on the outskirts of the town.


Overnight: cruise to The Three Islets (115 Island)


Day 2: The 3 Islets (115 Island) – Nyaung Wee – Bo Cho and Lampi Island
You wake up to a stunning view of The Three Islets (115 Island). After breakfast, you can swim and snorkel with countless fish in the crystal-clear water. Later you follow your guide through the lush tropical jungle to a small beach, where you can find many beautiful shells washed in from the ocean. Before Lunch you cruise to Nyaung Wee Island and visit Moken Village. Over lunch you will cruise to the largest sea-gypsy settlement in the area on Bo Cho Island. Be prepared to be surrounded by curious kids. Bring some small gifts and be even more overwhelmed by their warm welcome. Walk through the village and take scenic pictures from the Pagoda located on the hill overlooking the entire village. Chill-out onboard and learn about the daily life of the almost extinct sea-gypsies. Finally you will cruise to Lampi Island, and if time and tide permit, we will also visit the mangrove forest where you can do some night fishing.  


Overnight: onboard nearby Lampi Island

 

Day 3: Lampi Island – Tar Yar Island - Ko Phawt Island - Pilar Island
Your day starts with some early-morning kayaking along the mangrove forest or alternatively snorkeling, swimming or some beach time. Then we cruise north to Tar Yar Island for some more of the same. Cruising on to Ko Phawt and Lampi Island you finally head south towards Pilar Island.


Overnight: at Iguana Bay.


Day 4: Pilar Island – High Rock (Hlaing Gu) Island – Zar Det Nge Island – Salon Island
You depart around 9.00 AM from Iguana Bay and head for High Rock (Hlaing Island) where activities include swimming, exploring the island, kayaking and snorkeling. Later you move on to Zar Det Nge Island for some more fun on the beach and in the water. You continue on to Salon Island where you end the day with a BBQ dinner onboard.        


Overnight: onboard nearby Salon Island.


Day 5: Salon Island - Kawthaung
You have breakfast onboard and then cruise back towards Kawthaung where you disembark the MV Sea Gypsy and transfer to Kawthaung.

Myanmar Visas
Guests who enter and leave Kawthaung/Myanmar from Ranong / Thailand do not have to apply for a visa at the Myanmar Embassy. You are able to get a special visa for the duration of the trip in Kawthaung. Just make sure to bring $40 and two passport pictures along. Our local support team will take care of the process in Kawthaung. Please be advised that agents or passengers are required to obtain all necessary visas for the county to be visited. For Myanmar and Thailand a valid passport for six months is required. You will obtain 28 days valid tourist visa to enter Myanmar. We recommend that you contact your local Myanmar Embassy for the most up to date information on visa and passport requires. Combinations such as enter Myanmar at Yangon and leave from Kawthaung are possible but need a special permit; please inform us immediately if you plan to do so.

Cruise boat facilities
Our adventure cruise boat has no cabins on board. We provide secure lockers, which are located on the lower deck, for personal belongings storage. The boat was built with 5 open-air gazebos, which can be transformed into double beds with curtains etc. for the nighttime. There are 2 gazebos on the upper deck and 3 gazebos on the main deck and all booking requests are always handled on a first-come first-served basis. The boat is very basic and is not a luxury boat. There is neither air-con nor fan onboard. There are 2 bathrooms (showers only) with toilets on the main deck and all the guests have to share these facilities.

  This tour is private and can be tailor-made to suit your travel needs. As a result the price is quoted in US dollars and shown on a per-person basis. The ‘Price From’ quoted is for a party of 6 to 8 people and for accommodation in 3 star hotels. The final price will be privately quoted, based on the number in your party, your preferred time of travel, grade of hotel and any additional services requested. We are aware that a good tour must have good hotels. In Indochina particularly, hotel price makes up most of the cost of your holiday in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. All of our prices are calculated on a twin-shared basis. As a guide, Travel Loops defines hotel grades as follows:
