A morning flight will take you to Bagan from Yangon city. On arrival, you transfer to the ship ‘Road To Mandalay’ on the Irrawaddy River and head for Bagan, the very famous plain of Buddhist temples and pagodas. When you arrive, you get a look at the whole, spectacular panoramic view of Bagan with a vast landscape covered in Buddhist monuments while lunch is being served on board. After lunch, you continue to discover the sites of Bagan with a closer look at some prominent pagodas. In late afternoon, you can enjoy the sunset before dinner and spend the night on board the ship.
Day 2: Bagan Tour [B/L/D]
After breakfast, you will tour around the local market of Bagan where you can buy lots of interesting souvenirs such as woodcarvings, fabrics, and traditional attire (called longyi) and rattan goods. Find out how the famous lacquer ware is made or hire a bicycle or horse-cart to explore the stunning area of Bagan. In the early afternoon, we will say goodbye to Bagan and head to Mandalay. Relax on the top deck and enjoy the sound of the river life, looking out for the beautiful Irrawaddy dolphins while our guide gives a talk. In the evening, you can enjoy a cocktail party before a sumptuous dinner. Stay overnight on board.
Day 3: Sail to Mandalay [B/L/D]
In the morning, the Road To Mandalay sets off for Shwe Kyet Yet village and will arrive around noon. After lunch, you can explore Mandalay with the help of our guide. Experience the solemnity of this centre of Burmese culture and Buddhist learning. Later you return to the ship to enjoy the stunning sunset. Dinner and stay overnight on board.
Day 4: Mingun – Sagaing Hills [B/L/D]
In the early morning, you will sail to Mingun and visit the second-largest bell in Myanmar as well as the Mingun Pagoda. Later you return by ferry for lunch on board. Late afternoon, you proceed to the Sagaing Hills, meet the locals and take photos of the panoramic view of Sagaing. We will also have time to peek into its silver workshops. Dinner and stay overnight on board.
Day 5: Mandalay – Check out [B/-/-]
After an early breakfast, you transfer to Mandalay airport for your onward flight to Yangon. This tour is private and can be tailor-made to suit your travel needs.
