Starting from Chiang Khong in Thailand, this tour takes us all over Laos, from Pak Beng, to Luang Prabang and on to Vientiane. You will enjoy fascinating city tours of both Luang Prabang and the capital Vientiane. You will visit the stunning waterfalls at Khone Phapheng and may even spot some very rare fresh water dolphins. This tour is a real adventure.

 

Brief Itinerary:

 

Day 01: Chiang Khong (Thailand) – Huay Xai – Pak Beng                     

Day 02: Pak Beng - Luang Prabang

Day 03: Luang Prabang - City Tour

Day 04: Luang Prabang - Kuangsi Waterfall

Day 05: Luang Prabang - Vientiane

Day 06: Vientiane – City Tour

Day 07: Vientiane - Pakse – Tad Lo

Day 08: Tad Lo - Champasak - Khong Island

Day 09: Khong Island- Khone Phapheng waterfall - Pakse

Day 10: Pakse - Departure

Day 1: Chiang Khong (Thailand) – Huay Xai – Pak Beng
On arrival at the Chiang Khong – Huay Xai Immigration Check-Point, proceed with formalities and then you take a private slow boat trip down south along the Mekong River to Pak Beng (lunch en route). Overnight in Pak Beng in riverside accommodation.

 

Day 2: Pak Beng - Luang Prabang
After breakfast, you continue by boat to Luang Prabang. On the way you visit several hill tribe villages, heading onwards to the famous Trails of Laos caves known as Tham Ting. Then you will also visit a rice wine distillation village at Ban Sanghai and arrive around sunset in Luang Prabang. Overnight in chosen hotel.

 

Day 3: Luang Prabang - City Tour
Today you have a full-day city tour of this ancient capital city of the Lao Kingdom, beautifully situated on the Mekong River, surrounded by hills. You will visit Wat Visoun, Wat May, Wat Xienthong, Wat Praphuthabat, and The National Museum (the former Royal Palace); followed by watching the sunset over the Mekong River and the panoramic view of Luang Prabang City from the top of Mount Phousi.

 

Day 4: Luang Prabang - Kuangsi Waterfall
Today you take a full-day excursion to visit the picturesque Kuangsi waterfalls where you will also have a picnic lunch. Swimming is recommended in the clear natural pools. In the late afternoon you return to Luang Prabang to visit Ban Phnom weaving village and Ban Sang Kong, a papermaking village, which uses the natural process from mulberry trees.

 

Day 5: Luang Prabang - Vientiane
After a very early start at around 5:45 am, you will be drive to Ban Vat Sean to discreetly watch long lines of monks collecting alms in this daily ceremony, then you head back to the hotel for breakfast. you check out from our hotel and have some free time to shop or relax before our team transfer you to the airport for your short flight to Vientiane. On arrival at the new capital you will be transfer to your hotel, after which you have free time to relax.

 

Day 6: Vientiane – City Toure
Today is a full-day city tour of Vientiane, visiting Wat Phrakeo (the original home of the emerald Buddha), and Wat Sisaket (the house of thousand Buddha images). In the afternoon, you visit Anou Savari (Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe), Pra That Luang stupa (the stupa that kept the relic of Lord Buddha), followed by some shopping at the morning market.

 

Day 7: Vientiane - Pakse – Tad Lo
After an early breakfast, our team transfer you to the airport for a dawn flight to Pakse. Upon arrival you will be met by your guide who will take you on an excursion by road (called the old coffee road), towards Tad Lo in the heart of the Bolaven Plateau. En route, you stop over at around the 35 Km mark to visit the famous Tad Fan Waterfall and the ethnic villages in the surrounding countryside. Overnight in Tad Lo.

 

Day 8: Tad Lo - Champasak - Khong Island
In the morning you take a drive to Champasak to visit Wat Phou (Khmer ruins dating back to the 11th century) then take a drive toward Khong Island; on the way you visit the local Phasouay Waterfalls and local villages such as Alak, Katou etc. You then continue your journey to Khong Island. Overnight at Khong Island.

 

Day 9: Khong Island- Khone Phapheng waterfall - Pakse
After an early breakfast, you catch a boat for a 1-hour trip to Done Khone island. You will visit the famous Liphi (the Devil’s Corridor), and if you are lucky you may catch a glimpse of the famous Irrawaddy fresh water dolphins. You will see the remnants of the French colonial area ( the old pier, stream railway , former French hospital buildings and Messagerie Maritime Offices) before catching the ferry to Ban Nakasang village, driving on to visit Khone Phapheng waterfall, the so-called ‘Niagara of Asia’ . Later you return to Pakse where you stay overnight.

 

Day 10: Pakse - Departure
After breakfast, you are free to relax or do some shopping until it’s time for your airport transfer.
